About Granada

Granada sits at the foot of the Sierra Nevada in eastern Andalusia, with about 230,000 people. It was the capital of the Nasrid kingdom, the last Muslim state in Spain, until the Catholic Monarchs took it in January 1492. The Alhambra, the Generalife and the Albaicín form a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a large university keeps the city young.

What to pack for Granada

Granada sits at about 700 m, so winters are cold, with frosty nights, and July and August often pass 35°C by day. Pack layers and a warm coat from November to March, and light clothes, a sunhat and sun cream in summer. Shoes with good grip are essential on the steep cobbles of the Albaicín. Spain uses type F plugs at 230 V.
