About Palma de Mallorca

Palma is the capital of Mallorca and of the Balearic Islands, home to more than 400,000 people around a wide bay on the south-west coast. The Romans founded it in 123 BC, it flourished as the Moorish city of Madina Mayurqa, and Jaume I of Aragon conquered it in 1229. Its Gothic cathedral, old town patios and seafront promenades make it a city break as well as the gateway to the island.

What to pack for Palma de Mallorca

Summer days reach about 30°C with humid nights, so pack light clothes, a hat and reef-safe sunscreen. Winter is mild at about 15°C by day, but bring a warm layer for cool, damp evenings. Swimwear is for the beach only, and covering up in town is expected. Cover shoulders and knees for the cathedral, pack water shoes for rocky coves, and Spain uses type C and F plugs at 230 V.
